Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is one of The Cancer Council’s foremost fundraising events and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia. Over $40 million has been raised since it first began in 1994.
Once you decide to host a morning tea for The Cancer Council, all you need to do is set a date and time, invite people along (this could be at work, school, home or in a club) and ask people to leave a donation.
Money raised by Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea enable The Cancer Council, as the country’s leading cancer charity, to continue to fund:
In 2007 The Cancer Council funded over 200 research grants across Australia.
eg. SunSmart and Quit.
Support services such as the Cancer Council Helpline 13 11 20 for patients and their families.
While the official tea party date is the last Thursday in May, events will take place throughout the month and beyond. Kettles will be switched on across Australia in offices, homes, schools and community centres to help the fight against cancer.
Take a break with your work colleagues and help support the work of The Cancer Council at the same time. You can have your morning tea as part of a team meeting or simply enjoy a break together.
Invite family, friends and neighbours to join in your morning tea. Rest assured no matter how many guests you have, every cup counts in helping to raise funds in the fight against cancer.
Over the years sporting, leisure and community groups have proven to be some of our top sippers, so dust off the urn and gather a group together!
Set a date in May and rally the school community to trade in the pencils for a pikelet or two! Make your recess break a little different by hosting a fun morning tea for students, teachers and their families.
