Everyone knows someone affected by cancer. Today, there are more than 1.1 million Australians who are either living with cancer or who have survived a diagnosis. Cancer Council is the nation’s leading cancer charity, uniting the community, creating hope, providing support and saving lives.
Whether it’s helping people today, or being there for those who’ll need us tomorrow, we work across every aspect of cancer and rely on the generosity of community donations to fund our work and help us achieve our vision of a cancer-free future.
How we help:
We offer all kinds of support for people living with cancer, their families and carers, from financial and legal assistance, to counselling services. You can call us for free, confidential support and information on 13 11 20.
Cancer Council is the leading independent funder of cancer research in Australia. We fund and lead all kinds of research into cancer prevention, detection, treatment and support. The breakthroughs we play a part in are giving people with cancer, and their families, hope, and time together they didn't think they'd have.
Prevention & Advocacy
It’s estimated that 1 in 3 cancers in Australia are preventable. We provide support and resources to help Australians reduce their cancer risk, through prevention and early detection measures such as quitting smoking, being SunSmart, regular screening, exercising and maintaining a balanced diet.
We also advise government, providing an independent voice for improved cancer policy and prevention.
