In August 2020, my Dad, Lucio was diagnosed with Mesothelioma, a very aggressive cancer which was spreading rapidly. My mum, Kerri cared for my dad for as long as she could at home.
Six months later on 7 January 2021, I had to face the hardest day of my life. I had to say goodbye to my protector, my dad, who passed away at Flinders Private with loved ones by his side.

Although there is no cure, there are some treatments available to prolong life expectancy which include chemotherapy and radiotherapy, both of which my dad tried.
Australia has one of the highest rates of mesothelioma in the world.
