In Loving Memory of Khaled Yaccoub
Supporting Research for Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Our father, Khaled, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in 2024. The diagnosis came suddenly and changed our lives in an instant. One week he was working six days a week, active and independent; the next, he was admitted to hospital to begin the devastating fight for his life.
For three months, Dad underwent intensive chemotherapy with the hope of becoming strong enough for a bone marrow transplant. We witnessed the harsh reality of AML treatment — how quickly it can weaken even the strongest person. Despite the pain, Dad fought with courage, resilience and an unbreakable spirit.
In the early hours of 13/06/24, his body could no longer endure the battle, and he passed away surrounded by love. Three months — that was all the time between diagnosis and goodbye.
AML is a fast‑growing and aggressive cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It does not discriminate by age, gender or fitness level. In Australia, 2 in 5 people will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85. Research is the only path to earlier detection, better treatments, and improved survival.
We are raising funds to support vital research so that families in the future may have more time, more options, and more hope than we did. Every contribution — big or small — brings us closer to breakthroughs that could save lives.
This fundraiser is in honour of our loving father, hero and role model, Khaled Yaccoub.

Dear Yacoub Family, I would have love to attend the fundraiser today, however I was unable to attend due to work commitments. I would like to share a few words here since I was not able to make it: Khaled was always such a lovely person. Whenever I would see him driving around the area, he would always wave and greet me warmly. He was kind and welcoming and whenever I met him at the office, he was a true gentleman. May he rest in peace, we will all meet again in the life hereafter.
