Hello,
My name is Azita. I am a cancer patient who has been living with leukemia since 2022, and thankfully, it is currently under control 😊
When I was first told in 2022 that my life expectancy might be between two to five years, I chose not to accept that as my reality. I stayed hopeful. I thought about the future, about all the things I still want to do, and all the places in the world I have yet to see.
Above all, my daughter and my husband have been my strongest motivation to keep going and to truly live.
But that’s only one side of the story. The other side is the access I’ve had to incredible medical care, advanced treatments, and new therapies provided to me—free of charge. From being treated in a great hospital to participating in clinical trials and receiving the latest chemotherapy medications, these opportunities have made a profound difference in my journey.
Cancer survival rates in Australia are among the highest in the world, with a 72% five-year relative survival rate for all cancers combined (2017–2021). Survival has improved significantly from 50% in 1987–1991, largely due to advances in detection and treatment.
A large part of this improvement is thanks to extensive cancer research, which requires significant funding.
Every small contribution can make a meaningful impact on the future of cancer research and innovation.

This event is also held in memory of my dear friend, Anahita, whom we recently lost to ovarian cancer.
