Leah's Story
The Ever After Effect has lived with me well before the inception of bringing together creatives to make memories. It was my experience with cancer that began a deep desire to curate experiences for people. Memories are the keepers of time, in fact most of my life i spent sifting through my precious memories, they are everything. The people i love most are there.
Cancer has lived with me since I was 5, it has taken my little brother & my precious Mum from me.
In ways it took my innocence. I worried over big girl thoughts, it made me frightened. It made me grow up too fast.
Cancer took my Mum & Dad away from me.
The Ronald McDonald house was sometimes our home.
It made me see him suffer when he was sick.
It forced me to get ready for hospital school with people that were not my friends.
It stole childhood holidays and celebratory events from us.
Cancer dissolved my family unit.
Matthew was 8 years old when we lost him to Acute Lymphatic Leukaemia ~ He was diagnosed when he was 3.5years.
Cancer stayed away for the middle of my life until it visited again. It stole my hero from me.
Cancer forced me to care for the person I loved the most.
It made me see things I will never un-see.
It made me remember that frightened little girl.
It put me in front of my Mums true fear for the first time.
Cancer made me raise my daughter without her Nanny & Uncle that she was never blessed to know.
It made me yearn for my Mum like never before when I became Maeve’s Mummy.
Cancer has made me hyper vigilant about my own health and those that I love.
My family has changed forever.
My Mum was 54 years when we lost her to Glioblastoma ~ She was 53 when she was diagnosed.
Cancer can never take my memories. They are always there.
I just close my eyes and there I see a beautiful blue eyed boy, it is he.
I will always have her alive inside of me in the promises that we keep.
My forever hero and reason why.
I would do it for you in every lifetime.
