We have had our Morning tea!

D-Day was Friday 6th June! 
And a great day it was. Over 80 guests filled the Riverside Gardens Community Centre on a lovely Townsville “winter” morning.
The crowd enjoyed the yummy variety of home made, savoury and sweet, cakes, slices and biccies, even gluten free and Fodmap friendly treats; numerous cups of coffee and tea. And then there was the cent sale! Amazing array of items donated, handmade, artwork, edible, decorative…  and some minor raffles for donated Bunnings, Myer etc vouchers/ gift certificates and, Movie tickets.. and when the winners of all  were drawn, many happy people!
The Quilt was won by local Ken Onslow and has been collected and now enjoyed. 
councillor Suzy Batkovic a regular attendee mingled and Tegan Marsden from the Cancer Council helped us and gave a short but informative talk about services, support of the local Cancer Council and Los some positive information on how treatment and survival from Cancer has and continues to improve.
The event could not occur without the efforts of the whole Mysterton Craft Group,  their partners(the set up, pack, load general dogsbodies) and the extra volunteers like Annemarie, Fiona, Alicia van Ruth, Sue Daniel, Simone; and the Two Sarah’s, Military Police, excellent helpers in everything. We thank their boss for their release for volunteering; they are a credit to the Australian Defence Force.
Finally thanks to their boss Cancer Council staff at Gluyas Lodge for their help and support over the  approx 25 years we have been dong this!
