My Cancer Journey - I'm Still Here!

💛 This one is really personal for me…
I was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 33 years old. I went through chemotherapy, radiation, and a radical mastectomy.
After six years in remission, I was told the cancer had come back and had spread to my bones. I was given a life expectancy of just two years.
That was five years ago.
And I’m still here 💕
While this journey has been long — and at times incredibly hard — I also consider myself very lucky.
I get to call the Mary Valley home, and so many of you in this community my friends. I’ve been able to travel, see the world, give back to my community, and most importantly spend time with friends, family and the people I love.
The Cancer Council has been such an important part of my journey — from helping with accommodation when I needed to travel for treatment, to their wig library, post-surgery packs, and their joint support with the McGrath Foundation, which made such a difference during some of the hardest parts of my journey.
I also see just how many people cancer is affecting today, and it’s why I believe it’s so important to support organisations like the Cancer Council, Angel Flight, Little Haven and the McGrath Foundation — charities that are there supporting people like me on a meaningful, grassroots level.
It’s something I’ll always be grateful for.
That’s why this event means so much to me.
