We’re coming together for the Biggest Mornington Tea Fundraiser because cancer isn’t something distant or abstract — it’s personal. We all know someone who has felt its impact. A friend. A parent. A sibling. A colleague. A neighbour. Someone who has sat in waiting rooms, faced uncertainty with courage, and fought harder than most of us could imagine.

Every day in Australia, around 1600 people are diagnosed with cancer and almost 500 people die from it — that’s one person every three minutes. Cancer doesn’t wait. It doesn’t discriminate. And it affects far more than just the person who receives the diagnosis. Families, workplaces, communities — they all bear the emotional, physical, and financial weight of it.

For Mornington, this reality hits close to home. Behind every familiar face in our streets, cafés, schools, and clubs, there is a story of someone who’s been touched by cancer, either personally or through someone they love. These stories are what drive us; What bring us together around a cup of tea, yes — but for something far bigger than a morning catch‑up.

We’re not just sharing tea. We’re sharing compassion. We’re standing with those currently in the fight and honouring those we’ve lost. We’re raising funds for research that could prevent future diagnoses, for support services that help patients and carers navigate one of life’s hardest challenges, and for community programs that ensure no one feels alone.

Because while statistics might paint a picture of scale, it’s the human stories that show us why this matters:
