Come Have a Cuppa and a Chat – Let’s Talk About Cancer Awareness

Hi everyone,

Come and join me for a cuppa and some cake, and let's talk openly about something deeply important—being self-aware of your body, your health, and your mind.

In July 2021, I was diagnosed with aggressive Stage 2A, Grade 3, invasive triple-negative breast cancer. I nicknamed my cancer “Bozo,” and although it detoured my life in many ways, it also became a turning point. I’m not a public speaker and big crowds aren’t my thing—but sharing my journey has become important. It’s my way of encouraging family, friends, and teammates to stay proactive with health checkups and mental health check-ins.

Within our Suncorp family, many of us know someone who has faced a cancer battle—some are in treatment, some are NED (no evidence of disease), and some are no longer with us, but forever in our hearts.

We’ll be holding a Biggest Morning Tea for the Cancer Council in The Hub on 22 May 2025. I’ll also be placing our Tree of Life in the Hub—if you’d like to honour someone dear to you, or support a cancer warrior, please place a ribbon on the Tree and donate via the link provided. Don’t forget to write the name of the person you’re honouring on the ribbon.

Thanks to the support I received—from Suncorp, my Super (income protection), my leaders, and my amazing teammates—I was able to return to work after 18 months. I’m happy, healthy, and now taking happier detours in life.

Let’s raise our cups together—not just to drink tea, but to raise awareness and raise funds to fight this disease.
