Anna's Journey

In January 2023, at the age of 33, Anna received the news of a rare neuroendocrine tumour on her lung. It marked the beginning of an intense and challenging journey. Swiftly, surgeons removed the lower lobe of her lung, followed by rounds of preventative chemotherapy and radiotherapy. A year of immunotherapy followed, and by the time she joined the Atwea team, she was in the all clear.

 But in May 2024, Anna received the heartbreaking news that the cancer had returned — this time in her brain. She faced two rounds of stereotactic radiosurgery, first in May and then again in November, as the cancer progressed. In January 2025, she underwent a brain operation, which was thankfully successful. However, just a month later, a routine PET scan revealed two more lesions — this time on her lower spine.

Since March, Anna has been undergoing further chemotherapy and immunotherapy. It has been a quite a journey, but one she has faced with courage, grace, and unwavering gratitude.

Anna often speaks of the deep appreciation she has for the incredible medical teams supporting her, the unwavering love from her family and community, and the steadfast encouragement from her Atwea colleagues.

We stand in solidarity with those currently battling cancer, we celebrate the strength of survivors, and we remember with love those we’ve lost.
