Violeta's story: In 2016, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer, despite having no symptoms and no family history of the disease. It was pure luck that it was caught early, but I still had to undergo extensive surgery, and gruelling treatments of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. This experience had a huge impact on me and my family.
Christen's story: I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 during the Victorian COVID-19 lockdowns. It was very unexpected and there was no family history, and no real reason as to explain the rogue cancer cells. I went through surgery, 3 months of awful chemotherapy, 1 month of radiotherapy and am still on hormone treatment (as my breast cancer was hormone receptive, so inhibitors reduce my risk of recurrence).
Today, nearly 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. We want to change this statistic, and we need your help. Join us and our colleagues at Monash University Library's Biggest Morning Tea and donate online to support our fundraising efforts. Together, we can raise vital funds for the Cancer Council to support ground-breaking cancer research, essential support services, prevention programs and advocacy. Let's make a difference!

I am making this donation in honour of a family member who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Thank you very much for organising the Biggest Morning Tea for the Monash University Library - it is a very worthy cause and I appreciate the effort put into this.
