Yarra Points Biggest Morning Tea

We smashed our goal at our Yarra Point Biggest Morning Tea

What a fantastic morning tea we had. So many local faces from residents, business owners, sponsors and more. We had an excellent run of events with Renee Gani, Cancer Council Victoria's Community Giving Manager as our speaker. Renee shared recent statistics of 1 in 2 people now being affected by cancer which makes it more important as time goes by to fund and assist cancer research to find a cure.

So many of us have been affected either personally or through family and friends and this is why we will keep moving forward, fundraising annually and strengthening our ties with the Cancer Council Australia to help lead the way globally to rid the population of cancer.

We had a wonderful attendance this year that wanted to GIVE, GIVE and GIVE! They bought: raffle tickets, Australian Biggest Morning Tea mugs, bid on silent auction items and bid on our wonderful donated live auction items for luxury short stays on the Gold Coast, Blairgowrie and in Melbourne CBD. Our professional Sales auctioneer,  Alice Geddes, Associate Director, Barry Plant who managed to achieve new heights with our live auction.

It is important to say one more BIG thank you to all the team who helped make this year great. All my behind the scenes Yarra Point and Yarra's Edge residents who kindly helped not only on the day but the build up to marketing the event and bringing in wonderful donations.

A final word of thanks to:

Neighbours with a heart at Yarra's Edge community

Living in Yarra's Edge has created a wonderful support system for many undergoing their fight against cancer. We have a few neighbours who have fought their fight and lost and others who are still fighting.

As neighbours and a strong community with a heartbeat, we know how important it is to fundraise and assist the greater good with the Cancer Council to help fund research to take solutions to the next level.

This is my 10th year fundraising for this nation-wide event. Each year I have managed to encourage more neighbours and local businesses involvement to assist us in creating a future through wellness.

Please come and support us this Thursday May 22nd from 10am at the community space on the ground floor of the Array Building, 100 Lorrimer Street, Docklands, Victoria 3008.

If you can't attend due to travel or living overseas please do donate on this portal or through our QR code which is on posters throughout the Docklands and on social media. With your help we can make a difference.

Kind regards,

Petra

Barry Plant partners with Yarra Point’s Biggest Morning Tea

We are proud to announce that Barry Plant Docklands longest established real estate agency are joining us for a second year as our auctioneers. This year with Alice Geddes, Barry Plant, Associate Director taking centre stage as our Auctioneer. Her international background having worked at London’s leading real estate agency Foxtons, London. She returned to Australia to continue her career and is one of two female auctioneers that operate in Melbourne. CBD, Docklands & Southbank and is part-owner of two Barry Plant offices.

Barry Plant has set the benchmark for real estate performance in Docklands & Yarra's Edge. And because they’ve been selling, leasing and managing property here since 2001 – longer than any other agency – they have a natural affinity for, and intimate knowledge of, this unique region.

The culture of their team is nothing short of phenomenal. Their dedication, drive, and passion for success set them apart, consistently exceeding targets and delivering outstanding results. They bring a perfect blend of strategy, charisma, and customer focus, building lasting relationships that fuel our growth. Their teamwork and resilience in the face of challenges inspire everyone around them, proving that excellence isn’t just a goal—it’s their standard. We couldn’t be prouder of their commitment to our mission and the incredible impact they make. Last year with their help on stage, they drove our bidding to new heights creating us to reach our goal totalling $5,000 in auction items, raffle prizes and donations both online and on the day.

Why we fundraise.

Here at Yarra Point so many friends, neighbours  and family members have a story to tell about their journey with cancer; - whether personally or the loss of a dear friend or the struggle that life has thrown someone they love.

Not only Yarra Point residents but the community that we are privileged to live in at Yarra's Edge boasts some amazing people with very BIG hearts and the willingness to dig deep.

This year our set-up team has grown to 13 strong not including all the wonderful Yarra Point building staff led by Adrian that kindly assist with moving and supplying extra tables etc.

When I mentioned that it is time for us all to get together again our neighbours joined me for a cuppa to brainstorm how we can grow our Biggest Morning Tea and add more value to elevate our event.

This year we are extremely proud to announce we have some amazing auction items and interesting raffle prizes - to be divulged in my next blog.

For now I would like to say if you are unable to join our event due to traveling or living overseas then please do donate and support the Cancer Council Australia - your donation means so much to us all.

Thank you in advance from all of us at Yarra Point.
