A Little Tea, a Lot of Heart: Sharing My Morning Tea Story
This year, I’m hosting a Biggest Morning Tea because cancer has touched the lives of so many—including people very close to me. It’s my way of doing something small that can lead to something big.
A staggering 1 in 2 Australians will be affected by cancer in their lifetime—and for me, this has already been the case. Many of our friends and family members have been diagnosed, are still undergoing treatment, and continue to face all kinds of challenges.
In 2023, while six months pregnant with our first child, my husband Drew was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It was an overwhelming time—we were about to become first-time parents, I was finishing work, and suddenly we were facing a cancer diagnosis with no income and no idea what lay ahead.
When I reached out to the Cancer Council, their kindness and support were life-changing. They offered financial help with just a phone call. Knowing someone was there to help carry the load was something we’ll never forget. We were fortunate to have treatment close to home, but I know many others aren't so lucky.
Today, I’m beyond grateful to share that Drew is in remission and feeling well again. We count our blessings every day, and I now want to give back.
That’s why I’ve set a fundraising goal of $3000, and I’m already on the way—but I could really use your help!
