In 2017, I fought my biggest battle. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. What followed, among other things, was months of treatment, countless hospital visits, and a nice bald head. Undoubtedly, it was hard. But it wasn't the hardest part - it was watching the people I love forced to go through it with me. 

They showed up. Every single step of the way. They put on a brave face for me even when it was hard, and I wouldn't have been able to fight without them there. I'll never forget that kind of support. 

Most of all, my mum - my very own Wonder Woman. She became my nurse, my doctor, my confidant and my best friend. She was there for  every appointment, every treatment and every quiet, uncertain moment in between. Her strength never wavered, even when mine did. I am forever in her debt, and this year I'm doing this for her.

Now, several years on and sans cancer, I'm incredibly grateful and honoured to be on this side of the story. That's why this is my second year hosting a Biggest Morning Tea-not just to raise money for cancer, but to shine a light on something close to my heart - having a strong support system.

Because it's not just about finding a cure (of course, that's important too), but it's about supporting the people who are living with cancer right now—and just as importantly, supporting the people who are standing beside them. The family, the friends, the carers. The ones holding it together while holding someone else's hand. It's about the counsellors, the helplines, youth services, sitting together with quiet cups of tea and pre-made hospital sandwiches while getting chemo. These are the lifelines that got me through. 

Every dollar raised through the Biggest Morning Tea helps provide vital support services for people affected by cancer - services that often don't get as much attention, but make an enormous difference. Your donation can help fund things like counselling and emotional support for patients and their families, free helpline services for advice and information, transport to treatment for people who can't get there on their own, and accommodation for those needing to travel far from home for care.
