My Reason Why

Here is a little about my story. Cancer has affected and claimed the lives of some of my nearest and dearest, the most recent being my Dad, Steven.

I found out my Dad had stage 4 lung cancer on Christmas Eve 2021 with approximately 6 months left. Over the next 2 and a bit years, the cancer spread to multiple other areas including his brain. He underwent many surgeries and treatments to keep fighting. He fought for as long and as hard as he could and for that we will forever be grateful.

One of Dad's goals was to make it to my wedding in February 2024, the day before he went into palliative care. He was determined to be at my wedding, it was a huge milestone for him, and he did it! He walked me down a portion of the aisle, father daughter danced with me, and we got one last family photo.

A short 2 weeks after my return from my Honeymoon, we said our goodbyes in the early hours of the 23rd March 2024.

Cancer Council were there to support my family and provide services we never thought we would require. I'm hosting Morning Tea to give back and support the people who currently and in the future may need their services.
