Registering

Do I have to host on 28th May 2020?

The official date for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is Thursday May 28th 2020, but we know that won’t work for everyone. So feel free to host your tea anytime in May or June.

When will I receive my host kit?

Your host kit contains posters, decorations and a donation box to help you collect your Morning Tea funds. It also contains your Letter of Authority to Fundraise and information on how to bank your Morning Tea funds.

You’ll receive your host kit within a couple of weeks of registering. If it has been more than 3 weeks since you registered, or your event is coming up and you haven’t yet received your host kit, please contact our events team on 1300 65 65 85.

What support do I get from Cancer Council?

We’ll send you a free host kit with everything you need to host your morning tea, and we also have lots of resources available for you to download on the website. After you register, we’ll be in touch regularly via email with fundraising tips and information on where your funds go and the difference your fundraising is making. If you need any help, you can contact our events team on 1300 65 65 85.

Why do I need to register?

We ask you to register so that we can send you your free host kit with all the resources to help you hold your morning tea, including your Letter of Authority to Fundraise for Cancer Council.

Do I have to hold my event on a certain date?

Although the official date is May 28th, we know this may not suit everyone and you can host your morning tea anytime throughout May or June.

I'm registering as an organisation and don't want my personal named featured on the page or in emails. Can I change/remove this?

Yes, you can change your display name under Account Settings in your fundraising hub. Log in to your fundraising hub here.

What is in my host kit and when will I receive it?

Can I get more decorations and resources?

Yes, you can download more decorations and posters here or contact your local events team to request additional items to be posted.

Please get in touch with your local Cancer Council office.

How can I find a public morning tea to attend?

You can search for a public morning tea to attend here. Enter your postcode or suburb to find a Biggest Morning Tea near you.

If you would like to make your own tea open to everyone, log in and update your tea settings under Edit My Page.

Fundraising

Where does my fundraising money go?

Every dollar raised through your Australia's Biggest Morning Tea helps fund Cancer Council's life-saving research, prevention, support programs, and information. For more information on the ways your donaitons make a different to those impacted by cancer click here.

How do I promote my event?

Send out email invitations or send out SMS, share your fundraising page on social media, pop a poster up in your workplace or community club (you’ll receive a poster in your host kit), or put a notice in the local magazine or newspaper. If you’re hosting in your workplace, ask if you can advertise on your internal communications channels or add to your email signature.

If you would like anyone to be able to attend your tea, go to your fundraising hub to make your tea public and searchable on the Biggest Morning Tea website.

How do I ask people for donations?

The number one reason why people donate to charities is because they were asked – so don’t be afraid of asking! Tell your supporters why the cause is important to you and remind them that every dollar counts – every dollar will go towards supporting those impacted by cancer (find out more here). Many workplaces also offer dollar matching, so it’s worth asking your boss if this is something they will do.

How do I update the message on my fundraising page or change my page name?

Your page name can be changed within your fundraising hub, under the Edit My Page section. Your page message can also be updated in the Edit My Page section, in your Blog area. Log in to your fundraising hub here.

How do I upload photos to my fundraising page?

Log in to your fundraising hub and under Edit My Page add a new image to your Gallery. Also make sure to update your profile picture, so your friends recognise your tea when they donate!

How do I share my page on Facebook?

When you registered, you will have received an email containing your fundraising page and login details. Just copy your fundraising page URL and paste into an email or Facebook. When you are logged into your fundraising hub or viewing your fundraising page, you can also click on the Facebook share button.

I shared my fundraising page on Facebook and it prompted me to add a donate button, should I use this?

We would advise you don’t use the Facebook donate button. Unfortunately we are unable to track funds raised on Facebook to individuals, so any donations made using the Facebook donate button will not appear on your fundraising page or be added to your total fundraising amount.

What is my personal QR code and how can it be used to get donations?

Once you have registered, you will be provided with a unique QR code which can be used to make cashless payments at your event.

Once you log in to your fundraising hub, under Edit My Page there is the option to download your QR code. You can print the QR code and display it at your event. Attendees will be able to simply scan the QR code using the camera on their phones and be taken directly to your online fundraising page to donate to your tea - without worrying about cash!

How do I bank my funds?

The easiest way to bank the funds raised at your morning tea is to log in online. Alternatively contact your local team for other options.  

How do I add offline funds (like cash) to my fundraising page? 

You can do this on your fundraising hub, under ‘My Donations’. Log in here.

I've lost my remittance/return slip, what are my banking details?

You can bank your funds online here, or get in touch with our events team on 1300 65 65 85 who will be able to provide banking details.

How do I get tax receipts? (for hosts and donors)

You can find records of your past donations and your tax receipts through the Donor Login portal. Log in as a donor here.

Where can I get a Letter of Authorisation to fundraise?

If you have misplaced your Letter of Authorisation or require a copy, please contact us on 1300 65 65 85.
